In August 2018 15 years old Swedish girl Greta Thunberg staged a protest outside the Swedish parliament, every schoolday for three weeks, holding a sign that read “Skolstrejk för klimatet” (“School strike for the climate”) to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. She posted what she was doing on Instagram and Twitter and it soon went viral. Strikes began to be organised around the world. Inspired by Thunberg “Fridays for Future” (FFF) is an international movement of students who take time off from class to participate in demonstrations to demand action to prevent further global warming and climate change.
In addition to Greta’s well-known character, there is a whole generation of very young kids who have made this fight their own.
